How a passion for maternal health led to innovation
From Challenge to Solution
The journey of FetalWatch began when Lela Precious Dolo, Executive Director of Help a Mother and Newborn Initiative (HMNI), witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by pregnant women in underserved communities in Liberia.
After years of working in maternal health, Lela identified a critical gap: healthcare providers lacked the tools to effectively monitor maternal health and detect complications early, especially in rural and low-resource settings.
This realization led to the birth of FetalWatch—a digital solution designed specifically for the unique challenges of maternal healthcare in developing regions. By combining medical expertise with innovative technology, FetalWatch aims to revolutionize maternal care and save countless lives.
Today, FetalWatch is being developed and tested with healthcare providers in Liberia, with plans to expand across Africa and other regions where maternal mortality remains unacceptably high.
